There is some software out there that tells you the actual temperature. You can also try to go to bios, and you may have the information there.

Another alternative is to load a software called CpuIdle, which halts the CPU when it goes to idle, which can reduce the temperature by some 5 to 10 degrees centigrade.

It's possibile the default setting in the bios is too low as well.. I know for some strange reason one of my epox boards would freak out at 40c.. (well within the safety limit of the CPU)....
