The words you should fear the most are "I'm from the government, and I'm here to help you." The government will extract a high toll for helping these other software companies. Software companies will resent the restrictions and mandates imposed by the government but will be so dependent on them that they will be unable to break free. The US could lose it's competitive edge to some foreign competitor (probably somewhere in east asia). Be careful what you wish for as the law of unintended consequences can be cruel. Steve
