The problem is in Version 5 of AOL's software. I run AOL 4 over/with my @Home connection with no problems, both as a dialup and as a direct. AOL Version 5 won't uninstall and won't allow for any other ISP not just ATHM. This is why I tossed the Version 5 disk and have urged everyone else I know that still uses AOL to do the same.

That employee is deluded. Morale is low where the circumstances of the company are understood. Where they are not understood you have happy executives and employees trading for fun and profit during Quiche Marin lunch times. The staff is loaded with fat, dumb, and stupid, token personnel who have bought their way through the university and so are now demanding their entitled fair share. Half the staff should be fired immediately for surprisingly high level of incompetence. If you thought AAPL was filled with hippie culture pseudo socialists making non-negotiable demands that the slobs pay for their silver spoons, they're worse at ATHM because in contrast they believe their poor output is good. They sit around and congratulate each other for the fine work they've done as is seen in Home 2000. Home 2000 is the best that yuppie CS can produce, and the employees are plenty proud of it.

Solid, thanks for sharing that tidbit about removing AOL!

I used the Uninstall Wizard to get rid of AOL 3.0. Low and behold, the following happened: (1) All the my Desktop Icons disappeared and were replaced by DOS shortcuts, (2) My Turbo Tax returns disappeared, (3) some of my Word files disappeared, (4) the registry was so screwed up I had to hire a consultant to fix it. Problems still remained, so I junked the computer (a circa 1995 Acer).

I thought I had made a mistake and blamed myself all these years. Do you think AOL was programmed to create these technical difficulties?
