Mucho: Does anyone here remember that GSM is not in Japan and CDMAOne is?

Of course since DS (a.k.a. WCDMA - perhaps -) is backward compatible to nothing, that is probably irrelevant for the new sprectrum in Japan.

But there will be a steady upgrade to MC (a.k.a. CDMA2000) which will happen anyway.

There will be no upgrade of GSM in Japan because GSM is not in Japan. But of course that would be irrelevant anyway since DS or WCDMA as currently under test is not backwardly compatible to GSM (or any other technology for that matter).

So, should Nokia participate in the market in Japan that exists or delay any participation for a minimum of a year or two for whatever may emerge. Or both?

Best.
