RE: "we should see fast systems for sale on corporate sales sites."

Probably, but definitely not necessarily. I don't know too much about Intel's processor channel, but I do know Dell has tried to get our company's business, which implies there's some level of direct sales work going on there. And when there's some level of direct sales work going on, usually there's a carrot that a salesperson can offer to close a deal. Not sure, but I am wondering if there's more behind the Dell store, than what's visible to you and me? I would have no way of knowing this since I didn't pursue Dell's solution.

RE: "The fastest PIII systems for sale by Compaq and Gateway are 850MHz. In contrast, both of these companies have 900/950 and 1000MHz Athlons."

If there's a shortage, I would imagine these folks are placing their high-ends into accounts. This is only a WAG. I would also guess the large accounts are more desirous of an Intel solution than an AMD solution, which could be leaving AMD for the website customers?

RE: "HP has 1000MHz PIII's"

I asked a SUN/HP reseller which system he would recommend to buy: HP or a Sun. He suggested a HP.
