The only reason I keep AOL in any variety is because I have to send images and links to clients that use AOL and I got sick of having them call me up to say it arrived scrambled. The only solution was to send it to them using the AOL mail program.

This is hard to believe.

Didn't their deal with MSFT (for them to get on that first start up screen) mean that they had to use IE for a given time? I started using Navigator as soon as I could with AOL....but then you are still stuck with that lousy mail program.

Yes that's true, but because of how much AOL has grown since that time, I think that AOL is in the driver's seat now. AOL has publicly stated that they will continue with IE in the future. Who knows?

AOL's Mail sucks. Netscapes's sucks too. I used to use Eudora, but I use Outlook Express exclusively, now.

I never figured out how to use Outlook Express as the client for Netscape. I'm not sure you can. I always use IE now unless I'm testing. Then I use Netscape and try it with AOL, last.

BTW you might want to consider FreeLane as your "On the road" ISP. I know I scoffed at using a "free service" because I thought that the ads would slow me down,or be intrusive, but I found it faster than AOL and Compuserve.

I haven't tried a new dial-up isp because my kids use AOL and I didn't want a 3rd isp. The screen real estate would be another problem with my notebook. I'd probably have to drag a monitor around which I don't want to do. But maybe it's time to revisit this issue. I'll go over to Excite and download it. What do I have to lose...? Its FREE!

I have to laugh here! I do exactly the same thing.

I think it is a ploy to train you never to call them.

"AOL's customer training department speaking, Can we train you...?" This is true!!!

Thanks for your response.

Back-up the truck!
