I absolutely refuse to get sucked into another round on Elian, but am posting this as an FYI - the Sunday New York Times had a long article on the Gonzalez family in Cuba, and reports on the living arrangements between Elian's parents, among other things. It also goes into detail about Juan Miguel's involvement with the Cuban communist party - he seems to have made a success of it, and is ostensibly pro-Castro.
