>>I for one applaud the government for surgically resolving the situation. It was the right outcome. Let the Relatives
return now to their book deals and their made for TV movie deals.<<

Elian should lay claim to all monies under the victim's rights laws.

Let me make this easy for you.

1.)Under the Cuban Adjustment Act ALL Cubans who reach this country are entitled to apply for asylm.

2.)A federal court ruled that yes, even, a six year can apply for asylim.

3.)Who if anyone speaks for Elian was NOT Reno's or anyones business. Vice-President Gore said it should have handled in family court.

I'm not a fan of Gore. But I agree with his position

Good post. Here's the deal:

Some people take your son.

They won't give him back.

All law says that you have custody. You've done
nothing wrong.

Months go by, while the government tries to negotiate
and mediate, making endless compromises. "Family Values"
politicians parade in front of the camera, telling the
world that you can't have your own son, can't reunite
your family. They play endless politics with your son's
life, in order to make the point that Fidel Castro is
a bad guy, as if this was ever in doubt.

How would you feel in this case? Hey, you'd just
want your son back, right? What's with the politics?
Family comes first, always.

Clinton waited far too long. They should have kicked
down the door and given Elian back to his father months
ago. Sure it was violent, but all blame for that goes
to Elian's kidnappers, those who refused for months
to let him even *see* his father. What a disgusting
bunch of people.

Now it's finally done and a family is reunited
on Easter Sunday. Thank God.
