It makes me ill to think this administration would use a boy to open trade with Cuba. The trade issue should be handled under its own merits and let the Elian boy be a separate issue.

If this whole thing, the media coverage, the unrest in Miami, the seizure, the polls, ...etc., were all an effort by the Clinton administration to work out a lifting of an embargo, then this is the sickest administration I have ever seen.

We will know soon. If the president and his minions bring up the boy as a reason to lift the embargo then this has been a huge charade perpetrated on the psyche of the American male.

If not, and it is a separate issue and Elian's name is never used to promote this side issue, then it has more legitimacy and could carry more weight.

Either way, I see Cuba's war industry as decimated right now and the current policy is keeping our whole hemisphere out of harms way. Castro is not an impotent leader and I'm sure he would be happy to prove that fact.
