SB -

[[...everyone is using the boy as a political pawn. longer term, the boy is better off in the us vs working in castro's fields post "reprogramming." my guess is that religious beliefs also play a part as castro will probably make the kid renounce any kind of religious beliefs - that is important to avoid for some folks....]]

You must be making a mountain out of a molehill. Bernard Cardinal Law of Boston appeared on the Boston Globe's opinion page and implied that his four visits to Cuba revealed a wonderful, family friendly, society, a veritable workers' paradise, so to speak. Of course with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, with its history of capital punishment for religious heresy, as a reference, Cuba may indeed stand as a bastion of freedom.

It's amazing how realistic they can make those paint-ball assault rifles look. The stealth trigger lock wasn't even visible. They must have known there would be pictures taken as the goggles didn't show a trace of paint. Too bad JR and the INS weren't running the Bay of Pigs.

Regards, Don

longer term, the boy is better off in the us ...

Thanks, Captain Kirk couldn't have said it any better! <g>

Skeets, you're childless? Am I right?

I think 99% of the people who believe the boy should be left in the US would have not have taken that position if it had been the father who drowned and the mom was still back in Cuba.

I believe they should have taken the kid back months ago, as there was nothing to negotiate in my view, and the longer the delay, the worse off for the boy. While the actions of those in Miami gave you the idea only they had his long term interests at heart, it indicated me that fundamentally, they had only their own interests at heart.
