<<I have been searching various news sites, and all I can find is Juan Gonzalez's unverified claim that he had custody of the child. Additionally, I have found allegations by a former neighbor, now in Miami, that he beat his wife and child brutally.>>

I just had an argument with a 3-D guy about the case. His point was Elian shouldn't be treated any different than any other kid and belonged with his father. Blah blah. And you don't see any other children taken from a parent and put with relatives... I told him he should visit the Law and Justice Center and watch it happen every day. Dumb SOB should have known that, his old girl friend had all 4 of her kids taken by the courts.

I noticed immediately that Juan's Mother was inappropriately discussing the childs body...her general demeanor was extremely exploitative and the product of her 'parenting' style is reflected in Juan M. Gonzales, and his obscene gesture to all Americans.

My opinion is that the paternal grandmother is a threat to the childs well being.

I hope this is investigated further, and based on what I saw...her attitude toward Elian and her description of his potential 'manhood' and reference to his genitals, was A-B-U-S-I-V-E.

IMO, that right there is enough to keep Elian away from these people-

Why on earth would a Woman risk EVERYTHING to bring Her child to a better environment, where he could hopefully experience 'liberty'...[of course, the actions taken last Saturday have damaged Elian, emotionally]...

Answer: Because She knew Elian was in danger.

I can only hope, at this point, that there is an End that Will Justify these shocking Means.
