*I guess that it's cheaper than a sat phone uplink, is it any faster?* It appears to be rather slow. I'm not familiar with the technology. This is the first time I have used it. The owner indicates that it is a low-cost upgrade when you purchase a weather fax. Apparently transoceanic cruisers use these devices to receive up-to-date faxes of weather patterns etc. By adding some sort of a gizmo they get the internet for free. I thought you may have heard of this. It's new to me. Today's a good day to back-up the truck. --Dave
