That may be. I sure have shit would have given the option. I'm not smart enough to handle the world's problems and would hope to see an answer by the courts. I do wish the INS would have gotten a court order before breaking in a residence. New law has been written.

By the way, I have no firm opinion on the matter of the ultimate disposition of the case, and rather wonder about those who do. Does anyone think it is a good thing to go back to an impoverished dictatorship? Does anyone think it would be good, on its face, to sever the paternal tie? Laying aside the question of privilege, Elian has a chance to live a better life than would be expected in Cuba. On the other hand, one does not disrupt paternal rights and filial affection lightly. All of this is playing out against a backdrop of charges and counter- charges, and all manner of public demonstration. I, for one, am eager to give the issues a thorough airing in court, and question the necessity of force. I think it occurred to prove a point, and not because there was any urgency, or a better resolution was hopeless........
