Art, blacks vote as a block, in great majority, because they are duped by the democrats of having a paternalistic government that gives them things. If they study history their freedom was during a Republican administration (Lincoln). I know there are a lot of thinking and informed blacks who do vote for what creates a society that offers the most opportunity. Unfortunately, these good people are not often looked to for leadership. They are not respected as black leaders and they should be. I personally believe it is a mistake to follow people like Sharpton and Jackson. Follow the Colon Powells and those who just want a level playing field and I think we would quickly become a color blind society.

There is a difference here...the Cuban Americans WANT to work, and strongly believe in the concept of free enterprise. If you were to examine the "welfare rolls" of Florida, you would see more of the three sectors you mentioned than you would the Cuban Americans.

For the African Americans, native Americans, and migrant farm workers, the choice to vote Democrat is an economic decision, not a matter of freedom. After all, they are as free to the pursuit of happiness as anyone here. They simply choose not to for whatever reason, and the Democratic system takes care of them economically. It is an economic decision!

The Cubans, on the other hand, want to work and seek the advantage of capitalism that they were denied in Cuba. For them, the choice to vote Republican is very much a matter of freedom, and not an economic decision. They want the opportunity to leave behind the Communist system from which they fled.

Where they are wrong is that they expect the US share the same personal hatred they have of Castro, and to fight their battle with Castro, and we simply can't because we have not had the same experiences as they. The US is certainly capable of overtaking Cuba, but most Americans would not support that because we are nice and cozy here and do not have the same hatred of Castro as the Cuban Americans. The best we can hope for is a Cuban revolution after Castro dies.

The US should have improved relations with Cuba a long time ago, and it is these people in Miami who stand in the way of that happening. That is where they are wrong.

Somehow, when you look at the whole picture, it is more and more evident that the kid is a pawn.

Just my opinion,
