Are we a better society? Do we have less violence? Yes we do. This is the golden age of America, the best country in the world. I'm well aware there are pockets of misery and violence but things are nowhere near as bad as they were when I was a kid. I grew up in a small town with a railroad and the classic two sides of the track. Hang around on the wrong side and you had a real sense of danger. I went back to a 25th high school reunion and was amazed by the change. Visited a bunch of homes that I would not have entered back then. TP
