chalu, No, I certainly respect most police officers. I, too, respect them highly for keeping law and order. However, on a national scale we have seen some pretty bad things from some Federal officers. i.e. Waco, Ruby Ridge, and now Miami. I am not sure they are from the same cut as local officers on the beat every day. Frankly, I believe, and can never know, that if enlisted and they agreed the Miami police could have gone in, along with representatives from the Feds, and taken custody of the child with minimal problem. That is, with a court order. However, we will never know.

Frank

<< ... but I cannot agree with ... characterization of federal INS agents as "goons." These men (and one woman) had no idea what they would face when they went in; >>

Then, besides being called goons, they should be called stupid. The house was full of members of the press. It was well known to everyone that there were no guns in that house. The Gonzalez family is one of the most peaceful and loving families in Miami.

Reno and Clinton have got to stop getting all their news from Castro.

<< They shot no one, wounded no one, beat no one. >>

They teargassed women sitting around praying, and pointed machine guns at the heads of children, as well as parents. They shot Elian thru the heart, not with a bullet, but with trauma and fear that might effect him for a lifetime.

But, don't worry yourself about federal marshalls beating in the doors of innocent families. Don't worry at all. After all, it wasn't the door to your families home. Hmmmm!? I hear something. Hmmmm!? Isn't that a knock at your door?
