Senators are not typically refused entry to military bases

Senators aren't typically dumber than donkey dung

Senators do not typically kiss the ass of kidnappers or hostage-takers, either.

They are when they are grandstanding and interjecting themselves in a private family matter that was clearly unwanted by the father of the boy.

All I can say is he must be up for re-election and his poll numbers weren't looking too good. I might add that the picture of him standing there with that pink egg is not going to impress the voters in his home state too much either.

The world may be a better place yet.

>>>Senators are not typically refused entry to military bases<<<

New Hampshire Senator Bob Smith, the number three ranked Senate Republican on the the Republican-controlled armed services committee, could have entered the Andrews military base. However, others with him, not authorized, could not.

Senator Smith is renowned for championing fringe rightwing causes. It's not surprising at all to see him lend his office to any party wishing to topple Fidel Castro. I assure you, the issue of Elian's unification with his dad is not a matter of heart on Senator Bob Smith's part. It's yet another sad example of misplaced political opportunism.

As a side note, Smith gained his political notority in New Hampshire when he teamed up with former NH governor/former Bush chief of staff John Sununu in order to gangbang anti-nuclear environmentalists opposed to the Seabrook nuclear power plant. There wasn't a plaid woolen shirt in the state who didn't lap up to both Smith and Sununu's rightwing rhetoric.

Smith's narrow election victory last time around? Chalk this up to New Hampshire Republicans miscalculating that those moving north from Massachusetts in order to escape taxes, would also think Republican on social issues. Not true. It's my view that Smith will be hard-pressed to win again in the Granite State.

Me thinks he's seeking to latch onto national issues because he's actually looking for something else to do, once New Hampshire voters retire his service in the Senate. Yes, his attempt for the presidency was a deserved dud.

You see, the problem with Senator Smith is he doesn't understand the concept: Live Together or Die!

Senators are state employees, not commissioned US officers. They have no more official right to enter any base than an ordinary citizen does.
