Aside to 667. Yeah, a very common expression of course. I've heard it attributed to G. Loeb ("Battle for Investment Survival"), but I can't find it my reference material. Although Loeb was a strong proponent of concentration.

Also once before heard the quote attributed to Mark Twain. Can't find a source for that either. How should one learn to invest? I say by reading/studying/emulating investors - successful investors- who have gone before and who have shared their wisdom and expertise. Twain would be a poor source imo. Twain speculated unsuccessfully by betting on a new typesetting machine in the 1880's and later went bankrupt from his investment in his publishing firm. He turned over his financial affairs to his friend, a business executive, and was able to pay off his debts by his lecture tour(s). He died in 1910.

Steve, I love that...

"Put all your eggs in one basket...
...THEN WATCH THAT BASKET"

Mark Twain

I am not saying I subscribe to that practice.

I just like the concept.
