<< When a child is being held unlawfully by a "loving" or "non-loving" family, you can expect that law enforcement will use all means to return that child to the family member the law says should be caring for him. >>

You have made your point that you feel that it is OK for the federal government to send troops bearing machine guns and tear gas into a peaceful home, in the case of a legal dispute. If you like storm troopers settling disputes by using violent force against private citizens, don't complain if that is the type of country you get.

<< The Lazaro/Marileysis group was given special consideration an ordinary person would not get. >>

Special consideration? The government didn't want to have anything to do with Elian, so they passed this sickly little, traumatized boy to Elian's extended family in Miami.

Elian's father abandoned his son for several months while the Lazaro/Marileysis group nursed him back to health. They weren't delaying or holding out, they were caring for a very sick child. And they did wonders with Elian! What wonderful people. They did not deserve to be treated with violent threats and force and neither did Elian!

RE: Negotiating with the IRS is not a relevant analogy.

I didn't make the analogy and I make no claims as to its relevance or lack thereof. I was responding to the analogy, and to the claim that anyone negotiating with the IRS was a criminal.
