Hi PMCW - I really do not know the specifics but I suspect you can go to the SUNNW site and review a "white paper" on the subject. Dr. Joy was on CNET.COM yesterday and his quick explanation sounded like the design was much simpler than I described.

He stated that JINI devises do not require any special devise drivers and once plugged into the network, the network can recognize the devise. There will be more news at the next JAVA conference. He also said delays in the ramp up of JINI enabled devises was due to the time to market for these consumer devises to be manufactured.

You have several good questions and I suspect you can find most of them answered on the SUNW web site.
