No doubt Clinton had nightmares of another Mariel boatlift. His legacy would have been Carter II.

That raid was high risk. There must have been a lot more at stake than the kid's welfare. I wonder if Castro laid down any ultimatums.

Ish, I heard Castro threatened to send a ton of Marielos (sp) to us if Clinton didn't cooperate. Dick Morris said Clinton goes in to a cold sweat on that one. When he was Governor of Ark. he lost his reelection bid because he accepted a bunch of Cuban refugees at Camp Chaffee and, I guess, they had a criminal bent on the area. At least, that is what Dick Morris said on TV. That also may be why he may be a little biased against the Cubans.
