Well folks the IDC numbers are in and the news is all bad for DELL, again. DELL had worldwide sales of 3.2 million units in Q1 up 31% from the same period last year but down 5% from Q4. This data suggests that DELL will report between 14 and 16 cents versus a consensus of 16 cents. The only factors that could help DELL report 16 cents are;
- if GP is up to approximately 20% vs 19.2% in Q4
- if Opex remains in the same range as Q4, i.e. $791 million
- if their tax rate remains at 28.6% as in Q4.

IF GP stays at 19.2% as in Q4 DELL should report 14 cents.

Needless to say the market will look at top line revenue and this will be down to $6.5 million from $6.8 million last quarter. And here I'm assuming that ASP's have remained constant with Q4 and have not deteriorated any further.
