It serves only those who wish to erode the impediments to centralization. Small weapons would have no real effect on a worst case scenario. You should direct you efforts toward supporting 50 separate national guard organizations. This may actually have some effect in event of a coup. The idea that a bunch, even a big bunch, of weekend militias with deer rifles and uzis running around in some kind of "Red Dawn" raids would save the country is ludicrous. TP
