James, I found it very unusual for an earnings report just before a long weekend. I remember Compaq had a profit warning on a Friday (when CEO Pfeifer was around)that hit PC stocks on Monday. Should have read more into it and bought some puts--should have read more into the timing of the earnings release.

I had a very small position in MSFT but am now willing to make it a larger holding in this tough market for Nasdaq stocks--calling it a value play. I am considering leaps 2002.
Still not a great time to buy if one has a short term outlook but an incredible deal for long term buyers. There are better trading opportunities elsewhere ex. Sunw, Cisco, INTC etc--trading long.

I think the management of the company wants it to get bottomed out in stock price so that future stock options will be worth something when granted to employees(around July).
