Existing Home Sales for March = +1.5% to 4.83m units

Existing-home sales rose 1.5 percent last month to a seasonally adjusted annual rate* of 4.83 million units from a 4.76-million unit pace in February. March sales activity extended a rally that began in February, following a slowdown in January.

Consumer Confidence for April = 136.9 vs. 137.1 in March

The Conference Board's Consumer Confidence Index is now at 136.9 (1985=100), down from 137.1 in March. The loss was caused by a decline in the Present Situation Index, which fell to 180 from 182.5 last month. The Expectations Index, however, climbed to 108.2 from 106.8.
