Cisco is this month's cover girl (on Worth magazine).

Wasn't there a historical ratio of the Dow points to Nasdaq of from 4.5 to 5.5? Used to use this before 1999 to time extremes in speculation.

Bobby, re. degree of the NAZ top, i think you're right there...in fact the moves both in time and in price have definitely been larger than the respective moves you cited in terms of '87 and the Nikkei top. so far the NAZ resembles the Nikkei, excepting the higher degree. it will be interesting to see if it plays out the same way, i.e. a two stages crash, the second stage of which is much worse than the first. of course patterns will not repeat in exactly the same fashion. many have correctly pointed out that Japan is very different in many ways. however, the Japanese economic data of late '89 were almost exactly the same as the US data at the end of '99, aside from savings rates and the trade imbalance.
interestingly one of the reasons that was stressed to prove why the Japanese bull market was never going to end were the favorable demographics...talk about deja vu.

regards,

hb

Note that the value stocks are holding well today. The key to this may be the continued strength in the greenback. Hard to see a sustained GENERALIZED bear in the US as long as the dollar is strong.

The latest from Don Hays -- Steep drop in NAZ causes the Fed to stand pat in May, igniting a final strong rally into the summer.

"when will the pain end thread"

Is there such a thread? LOL

In the best quote I know of from Justin Mamis, "if you are still asking if this is the bottom, it isn't"
