garrick - unfortunately, whatever your view on MSFT's "guilt", this is not just a MSFT problem. The chill wind you see blowing through the tech sector is a reflection of the attitudes of many, both investors and industry executives, that the change in the rules that the MSFT case implies will result in an industry which is less competitive on a global basis, less likely to be profitable, and a government and court system which is more likely to punish anyone who rises to the top, along with a voracious horde of greedy bloodsuckers ready to drag down any company which gets caught in the net.

Good luck with your investments. You'll need it to pick a tech company which is likely to be unaffected.
