Bob : As you say, there are very few SAf golds left.

Gencor, one of the founders of and a big holder of Goldfields, is to unbundle their Goldfields shares to shareholders. One can imagine Anglogold or someone else will gobble them up or exchange them for something else and then there will be no more Goldfields.

The other half of Western Areas is for sale and talk is that Placer may buy it, too. Who knows?

Yes, Durban bought Harties from Avgold. Avgold is, today, the dullest gold miner. Overcapitalised from all the defunct Harties and Lorraine shareholders and awaiting something from the undercapitalized Target mine in the Free State. The other part, former Eastern Transvaal Consolidated, seems to be performing poorly.

You didn't mention Randgold which seems to be drifting into oblivion now that Morila has been partially sold off and Brett K is under a cloud. I don't know how Durban can be profitable for long at these gold prices. It is, after all, a collection of the relics of various "reborn", low grade operations.
