Found it! The trailing stop method I've been looking for is called "parabolic SAR". Actually, george patton has been talking about this with me via PM, but I didn't realize this was the same as my "exponential trailing stop". For a description go here: equis.com

Will incorporate to try to salvage my SCH trades, TC.

At this point I stepped out of SCH until I could find a way to minimize the sort of whipsaw trades that kill profits. In this way I managed to sidestep the next two signals which were also losers (Short: 44.5 to 45.75 and Long: 45.75 to 44.625). But since other trades are going well, I then decided on Friday to get back in, only now trading the folling way: 400 shares to open, 200 pulled out at $1.50 profit (limit order), and the rest out at the close of trade. But if profits dip below $5000 (100% return), then SCH will be closed again.

24. Short: 44.625 to

Total Profit (closed trades only): $6765 (135% gain in about 6 weeks!)

Buy-and-hold Profit: breakeven!
