This is not the "Good Nazi" defense. If you were ordered to do a job, wouldn't you want to make damn sure that you were as well protected as you possibly could be? So these men and women put themselves at tremendous risk, going into unknown territory, and you think they should have just come there and say, "How ya'll doin', we've come here to chat and talk about the weather! Could we come in, please?" IMHO they didn't overstep their bounds, they accomplished the task they were assigned to do in rapid fashion, with some damage and injury, which can not be classified as major.
