early announcement does not bode well!!

It is interesting to note that this thread immediately assumes that an early announcement must mean earnings are good. Shame on you! The reason for the early announcement is quite clear. Earnings will stink! It is well known and accepted that after hours trading takes place in thin markets with great volatility. To release bad news after hours in this environment will very likely result in an overreaction on the downside. CPQ management is concerned about releasing bad news after hours in an exceptionally volatile and thinly traded market. To buffer the reaction, cpq management has decided to release earnings bad news during regular market hours. This will allow a more rational and stable market environment to establish cpq's new price rather than the overreaction and insanity that would likely result from the ecn's. Therefore, I am not looking for good news - but rather extremely bad news. But doesn't this fly in the face of my earlier posts suggesting that without a warning the .16 must be in the bag. Yes, it does and I was wrong. CPQ failed to give a warning and instead will announce the shortfall during regular business hours to mitigate the negative effect.

Sleep well. Anyone out there even remotely agree with me?
