i know. contraryinvestor recently had a piece where they showed how big a percentage (i believe it was 50%) of the value of their 401k's people are borrowing for consumption purposes. of course using your 401k that's mostly in stocks as collateral for consumption loans is absolutely insane...the value of the stocks can go down, the debt, once incurred, doesn't fluctuate along with it.
it is quite incredible how the bubble and its fate have come to dominate the economy...
