yep, if i were a Fed official i'd worry 24 hours a day about the sorry state of the current account. note that in recent months gold exports from the US have been extraordinarily high, outstripping US mine production by a goodly amount. one wonders a) who is buying all that gold, and why? and b) who is selling it and why? one thing's for sure, the trade balance would look even worse without this pick-up in gold exports.
