It seems to me that threatening them that you'll talk to people is a fair response to them telling you can handle Safeway. Sort of like the concept of measured force.

I got a call last week from an agoraphobic woman who was going back to work for the first time in years, and wanted to discuss divorce. After talking to her for a while, I suggested she wait until she actually had some money in the bank before she filed for divorce. But I really sympathized. It's spring, time for change. New job, new life, why not ditch the old man (he didn't sound like a nice guy, btw). No, I am not saying it right. It would be like getting out of prison.

I can feel Dash and MJ's fists clinching in their pockets, wondering what embarrassment this is going to cost them... I'm glad you explained what it is that people are doing with their fists... I really didn't know this... I'm guessing that this is exactly what my friends might have been doing when they crossed to the opposite side of a fairly empty street in Carmel as I stomped along making up some very (I thought) original new words for that army "Sound Off" marching song and practiced them while keeping beat by slapping my knees with my palms... I soon found that I was marching to the beat of a different drummer... all alone... Uhm...BTW, do you think that could qualify as "performance art"...;-}>
