VIX, TRIN, P/C ratio:

fishweed, sorry it took me so long to get back to you. hope this helps explain:

TRIN:
short term trading index, index shows if the volume is moving into advancing or declining stocks. above 1.0 is volume advancing in declining stocks. TRIN down below 1.0 shows buyers are in. TRIN now slightly up at around .72.

VIX:
the market volatility index. the options market's gauge of investor fear, measures the implied volatility of S&P 100 strikes and moves in an opposite direction of stocks. VIx has resistance around 35 up in the 30's is a buy signal showing the market is oversold. buy on spikes to the 40's. VIX is now at around 28.7 down from yesterday.

P/C ratio (OEX):
the put/call ratio is a sentiment indicator that shows how many investors are buying puts vs. calls. if investors are extremely bearish and think stock prices will go down prices will usually go up. it's a contrarian indicator. anytime it rises above 85. it is a buy signal as stock prices going up will follow soon after. P/C ratio is now at 1.21 which is still in a buy signal mode.
