A suicidal lady dares to go to the Miami home with a sign saying Reno did the right thing...and of course the Cuban Americans there exercised their freedom to assault her, if it wasn't for the cops she would have succeeded in her mission to comit suicide<g>

According to Reno's hand picked negotiator,Aaron Podhurst, they were within minutes of coming to a peaceful agreement with the family and the entire Miami Cuban community. Castro and Clinton's lawyer Greg Craig vetoed the agreement.

Clinton moved when he did because he saw the courts were turning against his position.

You ignored my question. I said: "Why not try to use criminal prosecution to motivate the family first." And NO, they did not spend months trying to extract Elian. The government requested the child be sent to an airport to be flown to Washington and the family refused ("not bright").

The DOJ never attempted to walk into Little Havana and peacefully remove the child. Why? Afraid of the Big Bad Mob? Why the Crack House rush mentality? The guns in this Miami Neighborhood are no more prevalent than those in other areas. Guns are everywhere. To say: "There are guns in the house, so we have be violent is an excuse."

This could have been handled better. We can not effectively combat violence on the street when we set these types of negative examples. Why is it OK for our government to be militaristic in this situation? And what message do we send to "GangBangers" (The real problem) by pushing down old ladies and pointing assault weapons at children?

If it makes you feel good to see that type of aggression then you are part of the problem. This was abuse of authority.

I sincerely doubt UncleSam did this so Lazaro and Sleysis could save face. That is dumb. If anyone wanted to save face it was the DOJ. Reno had the bigger stick and she used it. There were other paths. DOJ and INS chose the simple one.
