Joan, platinum had a pretty steep dive in COMEX trading today...not palladium however. i think this combined with the Merril downgrade may have induced more selling. i wouldn't rule out someone knowing about Russian shipments coming to market, however, in the parlance of WS analysts "that's not new information" as the Russians have said a while back that the export permits have now been signed. the only thing that could conceivably keep them from sending over any metal is if they don't have any. having said all that, both PGMs are sitting right on support, and will probably break through...in any case, i think SWC is definitely a buy in the 20's. i wouldn't rush out to buy it however, as the chart looks awful here. it will take some bottoming action before it's safe to wade in imo.
