kash,

innitial 550 - 700 range for spitfire still makes sense to me. Just about all Athlons made under .18u process can run at 750 or better. This would give AMD enough time to sell all of the Athlon's still in the channel. During about 2 months transition period, Athlon 750 to 1 GHz would be the mainstream product, Spitfire 550-700 would be the entry level, and Thunderbird 900 MHz to 1.25 GHz would be the performance product.

After the regular Athlons disappear, AMD can increase the clockspeeds of Spitfire to 800 MHz or 850 MHz.

kash...re:This will really cause Intel to duffer as an 800Mhz spitfire will likely outperform a PIII 800.

regards,

Kash

This is getting more coooool by the day. Within months AMD's low end will be topping Intel's high end. And the sobbing Intel masses will cry out "Gotta get Willy, Gotta get Willy". Then Mustang and Sledgehammer will run it over and stamp that out too.

Kash,

After lurking on the Intel thread tonite, you may want to think about doing most of your posting on the AMD thread.....I don't know what's gotten into you and McMannis. You all used to get along so well with the Intel longs. Now all you guys seem to do is dis them and stir up a hornets nest. ;~))
