They reached an impasse. The Relatives notion by the account I have seen was not to recognize Juan's custody of Elian. They sadly misread the situation if they thought this was a negotiable issue. Reno told them they were running out of time. Reno told them they had five minutes. The time ran out. The window of opportunity to extract was upon them and about to close. Ding Ding Ding. Game over. The more I see of the Relative's nonsense after the extraction the more I know Reno was right to do as she did. Their claims and wild stories have the ring of self serving falsehoods. Their 15 minutes of fame is up. Praise the Lord for small favours.
