Dave Re: Marketing

Dave,
You're really beating this marketing/advertising thing to death. I can tell you from experiance that marketing/advertising is critical.

Look at IBM's UNIX based servers. A 24-way system runs circle's around a 64-way E10000, and is cheaper. IBM's AIX is 2-3 years ahead of Sun Solaris is such critical areas as failover and cluster technology. Honestly, Solaris is a pile of junk, the worst UNIX OS on the market. So with all of these FACTS, why isn't IBM putting SUNW out of business?

This is a good example of how poor marketing/advertising can kill a great product. (in IBM's case, I think SUNW better look out, we're getting our act together)

My only point is now AMD has cash, they need to reinvest. Now they have a solid position, a name and credibility, they need to capitalize.

dave,

Not a big deal but AMD is hardly flush....its better than it was 6 months ago but that is not saying much. In fact I bet every penny of cash is carefully accounted for.
