Troy:

This is a response from a friend of mine whom I asked about SILI:

"I've been in the chip biz for a number of years.
Sili doesn't impress me as as industry leader in any real sense and hence is not an interesting investment vehicle to me. Revenues have been real choppy over the years. Have done a better job controlling expenses over the last 18 months - but that was probably under threat of death! Also one needs to consider that Vishay took over Siliconix in '98 and the cost cutting may have come about by sacrificing R&D in this division. Do the DD!
Competitors include NSC, TI, Linear, Maxim, and several smaller 2nd/3rd tier startups and other living dead analog companies. My humble opinion is that there are better, more secure value and growth semi plays coming up soon at great values as the NASDOG settles back to sub 3000 region.
Small cap semi co's making less than 50% margin are, in my opinion, very risky, particularly when their ASP's are quite low. History is not on their side! I can't comment on making money trading them as a short term play. My opinion is best viewed as a 2 to 3 year investment view."
