General comments about the tone of this thread and the future demand for bw.

I must have bought about the right time, judging from the lack of hope here. The mkt today seems to confirm that.

Hear that low rumbling out there? That's the sound of millions of Internet users pouring data through the net. That rumbling is about to become a roar. Want to see why bw requirements will explode? It's an ap (class of aps) that allows people to see and d/l what's on others computers..not just music, but anything (5gb movies anyone?) called gnutella. Unlike Napster (you know, the ap that is swamping whole university networks with its bw requirements) this paridigm-shattering and bw gobbling ap requires no, repeat no, server. This means that despite how much the content co.s go and get court decisions they cannot stop this thing. It's spreading like wildfire out there now.

After d/l gnutella and checking out how it works, I'm convinced that this class of aps is going to introduce change that is second only to the development of WWW/browser. One thing that is quite evident right away is that these aps want bw enmass...and dialup is as about as useful as the first tty interfaces to the Web would be now. Can you say "change"? gnutella.wego.com

IMHO bw and silicon is what the world wants now--lots of both. Will the price decline on both--sure it will! Look at the past--did the steep decline in the price of si cause the companies that delivered it to go out of business? Hardly. Si devices are everywhere and on their way to ubiquity. Same for bandwidth...the cheaper it gets, the more we will use. Does the management at GBLX believe that bw prices will be stable or increase? I don't think so, and I'm certain they have planned for rapid decreases in price, along with soaring demand.
