Too bad Lexar hadn't IPOd yet. That announcement would've been good for at least 10 points today.

Btw, does SNDK usually announce erns report AFTER the close?

Thanks,
Buzz

Lexar Media To Be Exclusive CompactFlash Storage Provider At Microsoft Pocket PC Launch Event; Microsoft Taps Lexar To Provide USB-Enabled CompactFlash Cards for New Pocket PC Computers

Either way you slice it, Microsoft is supporting CF and right now the push is on to supply the market with CF cards and to promote the standard regardless of vendor. It doesn't really matter who is selling the cards right now. The CFA promotes CompactFlash as an open standard. And if SanDisk really wanted to hurt Lexar they could seek injunctive relief. But that would also indirectly hurt the CF movement by eliminating a competitor and viable second source to OEM's, IMHO.

SanDisk is being polite and asking Lexar Media to settle. "The ball is in Lexar's court," as Eli stated.

What the hell is Lexar waiting for?

Compare the possible title lines:

SanDisk, the INVENTOR of CompactFlash,...

vs.

Lexar Media, a wholly-owned subsidiary of SanDisk,...

Let's face it. Lexar is damaged goods without a licensing agreement from SanDisk. The IPO cannot procede in good faith without some resolution to the IP battle or an explicit recitation of the dangers of investing in the Lexar IPO based on the recent court decision. Such a recitation would be poison.
