Thanks, kumar. Good quote from Geoff, and I--almost--agree with him. (And we're getting into nitpicking here).

I also assume that they, not us, will define the definitive WAP standards.

"They" in his quote seems to be Europe. I think Japan is very much equally in the forefront here, and will have a big say. In this respect, the growing collaboration with NTT Docomo--a non-WAP provider at this point--is potentially important.

Also, WAP 1 is published. The focus next is on 2.0, which is being designed for broadband. To the extent that broadband equates to 3G, then we're talking more and more about CDMA, where PHCM and the US have greater familiarity.
