How could a microsoft breakup be good for the economy ? Who is going to improve on the Windows platform ? Should the gov be in the business of choosing sides in a business war ?

Where will they go? If they go to one of the spinoffs, the options will go with them. Going forward, I don't think we're going to see as much talent leaving the tech titans to go to the cash-burning startups. Options in those companies are also losing value, and those companies rely on options even more than Microsoft, to attract talent. Would you want to be paid in Ebay options?
