Yu, it's not just a recent effort, it's an ongoing effort. and to be honest, i can't really answer that question. imo it largely depends on the course the dollar takes. if it should weaken, the Fed would not have the luxury to print away anymore. i think however that there is actually a concerted international effort underway to not let that happen. to wit, the ECB's "benign neglect" and the BoJ's constant interventions. i believe there's now a consensus that the bubble has become too big and too important to the global economy to allow it to fail. of course all that is achieved is that the imbalances grow worse, and ultimately something will give way. but obviously not just yet.
