26 children died in Waco, and Janet Reno certainly bears some responsibility. But to say that she deliberately murdered them is another story. Please back up this statement with facts. I think the ultimate blame lies with their fearless wacko leader David Koresh. He could have let the children go at any time, but choose to make them wait it out with him. What kind a of a person would keep children at a hostage standoff? David Koresh was a wacko. He and other Branch Dividians didn't deserve to die because they were wacked, but they also bear some responsibility for not surrendering to the police and not releasing their children. As far as Elian goes, he belongs with his father in my opinion. The videotape that his relatives made was the last straw and bordered on child abuse. He was obviously coached into saying what he said, he kept looking up at someone off-camera after he said a sentance and at one point was eating something, as if being rewarding for saying what someone wanted him to say. This whole Castro thing is rediculous now that the cold war is over. Communist China poses a much larger security threat to the U.S. than Cuba at this point. There's absolutely no reason why we should have normalized relations and trade with China, but not with Cuba. Senator Bob Smith is a joke! He quit and denounced the Republican party to run for President, and then quit his run for President and rejoined the Republican party. Now, he's made a career out of representing the Miami family. Come on Bob, aren't there more important issues you could work on for the country, like investigating China's influence on the Democratic party? Elian belongs with his father if you like it or not.
