When I lived in town I live close to a park where they launched the balloons. Used to right interesting to watch, especially when they hit the flame at the wrong time and melted a chunk of the balloon. A few years ago, some balloonists attempted to launch their balloon in a neighbour's field. It was a windy day and the balloon got blown around at just the wrong moment as the burners came on. It was pretty much destroyed in about 5 seconds... A burning styrofoam cup comes to mind... BTW, I do not ride in hot air balloons...
