WF Rack & Ian - re: Palm, USPS, CSCO and handheld UPC scanners. Off and on (mostly on) for 15 years I've owned Symbol Tech (SBL). Is how I heard about COMS/PALM a few years ago since SBL is a leader in handheld wireless data collectors/storers/short-range transmitters. (Also heard about CSCO back then but sold way before the rise. Oh, well.) SBL (whose competitors are Zebra Tech and Telxon) currently has contracts with both COMS/PALM and MSFT so it can make handheld wireless UPC scanners/data collectors/short range transmitters with either OS. SBL's website has tons of good press releases and technical info re: the use and capabilities of handhelds - like the PALMs. Frankly, SBL's relationship with COMS/PALM is why I'm now in COMS since the drop below 60 a few weeks ago. Regardless of which company sells to the USPS (which SBL did a couple years ago), there are plenty of other potential customers out there. And this is not a paean or shill for SBL; rather, it's to point to a few places for info on how open-ended the possibilities for PALM's technology are. SBL's site also has some pretty interesting info on how other COMS products can be used in the wireless arena. Just my nonprofessional thoughts on the matter.

Regards, and happy reading,
Harry J.
