Yes, there are a lot of threads running through this matter. As for the protagonist, Elian, I don't see any feasible scenario developing that doesn't end up with the boy and his father in Cuba, whether anyone likes that or not. The only question for Elian is how long that takes and how much process they have to endure. The question for the rest of us is whether or not we are enlightened by the process or whether we just dig in our positions and sling insults across the void. Karen
